Home Hardware Becomes Founding Sponsor

Press Release
Wednesday, January 19, 2022

The Haliburton Highlands Arts Centre Foundation (HHACF) is very excited to announce its first Founding Corporate Sponsorship with Home Hardware Building Centre (Haliburton and Minden)! Dan & Emily Moulton, Dealer-Owners, Home Hardware Building Centre, have committed their company to become our first Founding Sponsor, with a donation of $25,000 in 2022!

The Board of Directors of the HHACF would like to welcome Minden & Haliburton Home Hardware Centres to its growing list of individual, business, government, municipal and arts supporters.

This significant donation will help fund important activities the HHACF has planned for 2022, including follow up steps to the Feasibility Study being conducted by Janis A. Barlow & Associates. The study is scheduled to be completed by the spring of 2022, and the Foundation will publicize the results.

Dan & Emily Moulton, Dealer-Owners, Home Hardware Building Centre (Haliburton and Minden), also stated that “we are very pleased and committed to supporting the HHACF in its mission to build and operate a world-class performing arts centre in Haliburton county. We believe strongly in the economic impact that this project will bring to our region, and we would like to encourage all local companies and individuals to pledge their support in the coming year!”

Dan Manley, President of the Foundation, stated, “we are delighted to welcome Home Hardware as a Founding Sponsor for the HHACF in 2022! Word of the Foundation is spreading, but in these early stages, it’s donations like this that take our fundraising campaign to the next level. We hope that fellow business owners share in Dan & Emily’s economic vision for the Haliburton Highlands.”

The HHACF launched its sponsorship campaign in November 2021, with the distribution of a flier which outlines various levels of donations and recognition for individuals and local businesses. For more information on the program and tiers, please see our Founding Sponsor Program page.

Federal Funding Announcement

Federal Funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage

Press Release

Thursday, December 16, 2021

The Haliburton Highlands Arts Centre Foundation is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a federal grant from the Department of Canadian Heritage via its Canada Cultural Spaces Fund (CCSF).

The CCSF supports the improvement of physical conditions for arts, heritage culture and creative innovation. The fund supports renovation and construction projects, the acquisition of specialized equipment and, notably, feasibility studies related to cultural spaces. With some exceptions, its mandate is to fund up to 50% of a project’s costs. Based on guidance provided by program advisors, in September the HHACF applied for half the cost of its Feasibility Study.

In early December, the Foundation was notified that it was being awarded a total of $44,900, the full requested amount. This generous grant assures that the HHACF’s Feasibility Study is fully funded and will be completed without pausing between phases for additional fund-raising.

“This funding is a dream come true for the HHACF and was many months in the making. Without something tangible in hand - land, drawings, cost estimates - public fundraising has been a challenge,” says Foundation president, Dan Manley. “Thanks to Canadian Heritage and their advisors’ invaluable guidance during the RFP and proposal stages, we’re now on a solid path to completing the research and consultations.”

The Foundation’s Feasibility Study, consisting of four phases, was launched in October (2021). It is being executed by Janis A. Barlow and Associates, and is scheduled to be completed in April 2022. With results and materials from the study, the HHACF is expecting to produce marketing materials for a large-scale capital fund-raising campaign.

Provincial Funding Announcement

Funding from Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization and the Province of Ontario

Press Release
Thursday, December 9, 2021

The Haliburton Highlands Arts Centre Foundation is pleased to announce that it has been awarded funding from Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization (OHTO) and the Ontario Government via OHTO’s Tourism Recovery and Innovation Program (TRIP). In the Partnership Projects stream, the HHACF applied for funding of its Feasibility Study, and it was awarded the maximum contribution of $15,000.

Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization is one of 13 Regional Tourism Organizations (RTO) created by the Ontario Government created in 2010 as a means to coordinate tourism development efforts and increase visitation to the province more effectively.

OHTO’s TRIP – Partnership Projects stream is funded by the Ontario Government and seeks to support collaborative projects that strengthen our sector and demonstrate consideration for the environmental, socio-cultural and economic impacts associated with growing the visitor economy.

“We (OHTO) are strong supporters of projects that support and positively impact the community while also providing benefits to visitors to the region,” says Nicole Whiting, OHTO’s Executive Director. “The proposed Arts Centre by HHACF has great potential to further strengthen the existing vibrant arts and culture assets of the Haliburton region for residents and visitors to enjoy.”

“We’re very grateful that OHTO and the Ontario Government recognize the potential for broad impacts to tourism, community collaboration and the regional economy while we are in the early steps of our mandate,” says Foundation president, Dan Manley. “Local arts organizations, stakeholders, municipal councils and other project partners are eager to see the results of the Feasibility Study come April 2022. This funding ensures that we can continue work on the study without pausing between phases.”
