Local organizations are also voicing their support for a new arts centre in Haliburton County:

It’s been a challenge for us to find suitable venues in smaller regions outside the GTA and the HHACF would be an ideal partner for the CMAOntario. This would give the Association the opportunity to provide valuable programming to our shared constituents as part of our objective to foster and support the growth and development of Ontario’s country music community and all those associated with the Ontario country music infrastructure.

Verle Mobbs, Executive Director, Country Music Association of Ontario

The Haliburton County Folk Society, a project of the Haliburton County Community Cooperative, is a long-time presenter of live music in the Haliburton Highlands. Its offerings include a concert series, monthly open stages, house concerts, Winter Folk Camp and support for the development of local musicians. The Folk Society utilizes a variety of venues throughout the County and looks forward to having the Haliburton Highlands Arts Centre as another option that is versatile and provides a range of spaces and services. The Centre is an important development that will continue to build this incredible community of performing arts.

Arts, culture and heritage play a large part of the economic well-being and quality of life in the county. This apect of the community will only continue to grow in the years and decades to come and a new arts centre is a logical next step in the evolution of the community’s arts and culture scene. In addition to being a new hub for the arts commiunity, we also see additional benefits, such as job creation and economic benefits for existing local businesses. The Arts Council ~ Haliburton Highlands looks forward to the opportunities that a new arts centre will bring to our community.

It is clear that the artistic community of Haliburton County has outgrown the Northern Lights Pavilion in the secondary school. While being a wonderful, if small, space created by the community, the restrictions of being part of a school and the limitations of size and space necessitates a new vibrant Performing Arts Centre that is flexible, dynamic, central, accessible and multi-use. The feasibility study will go a long way in helping the community move this project forward.

Haliburton County needs a place that will not only offer support for our local talent but allow us to bring in big name performers to build revenues. We need a space that will have a stage large enough and properly equipped to manage Large Theatre Productions, Operas, Movies, Orchestra and Choral performances. It needs to have adequate rehearsal, storage and backstage facilities and proper amenities for our audience, (parking, comfortable seating, acoustics etc.) To have this all in one location would be a wonderful addition to our growing community.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Highlands Summer Festival, I am very pleased to offer our support for your efforts to create a new performing arts complex in the Haliburton area. The arts have grown enormously over the last thirty years both in size and numbers. We need a new independent facility with the space and technical facilities to satisfy all of the creative efforts currently being staged in our community.

As the owner of Heritage Ballet, we have held our yearly dance recitals (since 2002) and Nutcracker performances (since 2004) in the Northern Lights Performing Arts Pavilion. This small theatre has given us a chance to perform on stage to a smallish audience, which we are grateful for, but it hasn’t taken long to outgrow it. The potential to have a Nutcracker production on a larger stage would be incredible, not to mention other potential performances and guest artists.

Dance Happens Here Haliburton (DH3) presents contemporary and traditional dance in unique settings in order to reach audiences who may not otherwise experience these performances.

DH3 commissions artists to create original productions and partners with other presenting organizations to β€œembed” professional and locally created dance performances into events and spaces in Haliburton County. We are excited about having a performing arts space in Haliburton County that will be suitable for the presentation of dance in its many forms and for the opportunities to make dance connections with other presenters in collaboration with Haliburton Highlands Arts Centre Foundation (HHACF).

The Frost Student Association of Fleming College which operates at the Haliburton and Lindsay campus’s, supports the creation of an arts centre in Haliburton County. It is evident that arts and culture play a large role in attracting and retaining students. Many of the Haliburton School of Art + Design graduates make an effort to stay in, close to or return to the county, simply because of the rich density and diversity within the arts.

The Highlands Chamber Orchestra fully supports the HHACF's mission. Between a larger stage, acoustically engineering hall and affordable rehearsal spaces, Haliburton County would greatly benefit from a dedicated and inclusive arts centre.

Haliburton County has a very vibrant and active arts community and deserves an arts centre that reflects the caliber of talent that is attracted to this area. Haliburton County needs an arts centre that will meet the needs of the entire community and is inclusive at all.
